I shut down yesterday. Body and soul reached their saturation points. Soul exhaustion was the diagnosis. Ears couldn’t listen to another rant. Eyes couldn’t watch any more.
I’ve seen enough to know that justice is not blind. She wears an eye patch, pillaging hope like Captain Morgan. One eye always on the prize.
The hand that holds the gold tips the scale.
One eye. Squinting, failing to focus, incapable of clear vision.
Maybe she’s blatantly winking.
But me and my melanated kin have never been in
on the joke. It’s funny/
some think money solves everything. But twelve mil doesn’t
resurrect the dead.
And it doesn’t set a legal precedent for future black bodies.
Hush money.
It works both ways. Shut up your wallets.
But keep your voices raised.
I won’t stop saying her name. Breonna Taylor.
hashtag until justice is real.
I have spoken about conscious consumerism before and I will again, as soon as I find a soapbox that aligns… Wait! There is one!
thetrueproducts is an eco friendly, vegan, black and veteran owned laundry detergent. The testimonials are glowing. I’m not sure if they ship to Canada (or whether that makes sense fiscally) but check them out.
I’ll have more products and services to share but my time in front of the screen is done for today.
Please help me build a database and send any suggestions for BIPOC businesses to support.
Take care of one another.
